Quran: Read, Recite & Listen

Privacy Policy

Effective: September 17, 2026 Applies to: the Android app only
In short

Overview

This app exists to make reading, listening to, and reflecting on the Quran simple and free of distraction. It was built without ads, subscriptions, or paid features, and that same philosophy extends to your data: the app is designed to collect as little as possible, and to keep what it does need on your own device wherever it can.

This policy explains what happens, in plain terms, when you use the app.

Information we don't collect

The app has no account system, no login, and no user profile. It does not ask for your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information. There is no advertising SDK and no analytics or crash-reporting SDK built into the app, so nothing about how you use it is collected or sent anywhere for tracking or advertising purposes.

What stays on your device

Everything the app remembers about how you use it is stored locally on your phone, not on a server, and is never transmitted anywhere:

The one thing the app talks to

To show Quran translations, tafsir (commentary), reciter audio, and search results, the app makes network requests to the Quran Foundation Content API (quran.foundation). The Arabic text itself is bundled with the app and works fully offline.

Like any request made over the internet, these connections inherently carry standard technical information (such as your device's IP address and basic request metadata) to the server that responds — this is how the internet works, not something the app collects or stores. The app itself does not attach any identifying information to these requests, and audio for the optional combined-reciter option is streamed directly from a public CDN (quranicaudio.com) the same way.

App permissions, and why

Every permission the Android app requests
PermissionWhat it's for
InternetFetching translations, tafsir, and audio from the content provider.
Foreground service / media playbackKeeping recitation audio playing reliably while your screen is off or you're in another app.
Wake lockPreventing playback from being interrupted mid-recitation.
Post notificationsShowing the playback controls in your notification shade and lock screen.

The app does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, files outside its own storage, or anything else beyond what's listed above.

Children's privacy

The app is suitable for users of any age and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.

Accuracy of content

Care has been taken in preparing the Quranic text, translations, and audio in this app, but errors are possible. This app is not intended to misrepresent, alter, or spread incorrect information about the Quran — if you notice anything that should be corrected, please get in touch using the contact below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
